Donatello's Reflection

Let me just start off by saying that I absolutely loved this book. P.S. I Love You is a cute but surreal story. The novel is about a woman named Holly who lost the love of her life, her husband, Gerry. She was so heartbroken that she did not know what to do with herself. This novel is good to read if you just recently lost someone. Ahern has a good way of showing the different stages of mourning and could help someone get through it. I am really glad that Rebecca recommended this book to read. It was a very easy read and once you started you just did not want to put it down. When I first saw the book I was a little discouraged that it was so big, four hundred and fifty pages, but since it was so good, I read it in five days. The discussion with Rebecca gave me different ideas and views on different topics in the book. I really like the point she made about Holly continuing to wear her wedding ring. I liked the fact that she said she kept the ring on because it gave her a meaning in her life because it connected her to Gerry and that it was a cushion for her. Holly needed that support in her life because she felt so empty without Gerry. After reading P.S. I Love You, I now understand the feeling of what it must feel like to lose someone you love so much. I lost my grandfather when I was little and I thought that was hard. Now that I read the book, I understand what my grandmother went through after she lost her husband of almost fifty years. This novel opened my eyes to how hard mourning is and the different stages of it and how you just need time to get over it and just remember that everything will eventually be okay.

Raphael Reflection

P.S. I Love You was a very touching story about a woman named Holly and how she had to overcome the death of her husband Gerry. Right away I was intrigued by this book because it was something easy to read and it really made me want to keep reading. It was a love story, and I personally love love stories so to me, reading this book wasn't work, it was fun. Reading this book made me appreciate many of the things I have in my life now, and it made me see how hard it is for someone to lose someone they love so much. There were alot of thigns that made me smile while reading this, and alot of cute things that were put together perfectly, like the totle of the book being what Gerry writes at the end of every message. However, there were a lot of things that I didn't understand while reading this and this is why this disscusion was very helpful. It made me think of all the different twists that can be put on all of the stituations Holly encountered. It gave me an idea of how wrong I could be in interperating something and how some parts of the book are meant differently than always read. It gave me good things to think about when I went back into the novel to find quotes, and that helped me pick up things i may have missed when reading it. Having someone to talk to about the book made it even more enojyable because this is a book I could talk about forever, like it was a real life story, because many times that's how i felt when reading it. Overall I think this project was a great experience with reading this book and it really helped me learn alot about the book.
