Donatello's Reflection

Let me just start off by saying that I absolutely loved this book. P.S. I Love You is a cute but surreal story. The novel is about a woman named Holly who lost the love of her life, her husband, Gerry. She was so heartbroken that she did not know what to do with herself. This novel is good to read if you just recently lost someone. Ahern has a good way of showing the different stages of mourning and could help someone get through it. I am really glad that Rebecca recommended this book to read. It was a very easy read and once you started you just did not want to put it down. When I first saw the book I was a little discouraged that it was so big, four hundred and fifty pages, but since it was so good, I read it in five days. The discussion with Rebecca gave me different ideas and views on different topics in the book. I really like the point she made about Holly continuing to wear her wedding ring. I liked the fact that she said she kept the ring on because it gave her a meaning in her life because it connected her to Gerry and that it was a cushion for her. Holly needed that support in her life because she felt so empty without Gerry. After reading P.S. I Love You, I now understand the feeling of what it must feel like to lose someone you love so much. I lost my grandfather when I was little and I thought that was hard. Now that I read the book, I understand what my grandmother went through after she lost her husband of almost fifty years. This novel opened my eyes to how hard mourning is and the different stages of it and how you just need time to get over it and just remember that everything will eventually be okay.
